Again.

Farmer’s dog. We are neighbours. We were on a footpath, our dogs on leads, minding our own business. My dog is 11 and was walking with my DS, also 11.
Farmers dog (off lead despite history of attacks on runners, other dogs) suddenly comes from nowhere. DS dropped the lead so our old boy could run (he’s still fast in bursts, ex racer). Ddog has 3 puncture wounds to his lower back and a 3 inch chunk out of his tail.
Took him to emergency vet as I couldn’t stem the bleeding at home and they discovered the back wounds all met in the middle and were down to his hip bones.
Luckily we’re insured but I had to pay up £680 last night (emergency vet) and he needs further work at our vet on Tuesday.
These are the wealthiest farming family in the area. Think multi million pound farmhouse. Massive cars. He’s off skiing soon apparently. I’m off round there later today with the itemised bill to ask them to pay the excess on our insurance. He’s never done it before for anyone else- bracing for a polite argument.
To emphasise: my dog did nothing wrong and was running away!

Please, please tell the police op. This happened to us (sort of).
My dad saw three dogs attacking one little dog outside our window and they bit off the end of the owners finger as well as a chunk out of her leg ! It turned out these dogs frequently attack other dogs after getting out of their owners garden. No one wanted to report as the owner is notoriously an arse and I believe would threaten people.
About a week later I took my young cousin out and one of the dogs had gotten out again and attacked her, luckily all okay but dogs like that will attack anything. A young child could be killed. It's anecdotal but I always think about the fact that people must have known when a dog kills someone !

Thanks for updating, I've been thinking about your boy. I love greyhounds, especially the big black ones. They steal your heart.

Our girl managed to tear a big flap off her side after running into a branch, the wound took ages to knit as there was so little body fat, just basically stretched skin. It did heal though eventually.

Keep us updated and good luck for Saturday.

What's on the letter?
Why the sudden change of hearts?
Are they hoping that you wouldn't report them?

How is your dog getting on op? Really hope he is on the mend.
