Man threw my dog at the park!

I was going to put this in the puppy thread but decided my outrage needed a thread of my own Grin

I’m in Australia and dog parks are very popular here. Basically a secure, fenced park of varying sizes where dogs can run around off lead and play with each other. Sounds great in theory but the complexities of dog and human behaviour mean it’s not always fun and games.

My local park has a small dog section and even though my whippet is only 13 kilos I normally take him to the bigger dog area these days as he’s too rough with the little dogs. Today one of the owners of the other dogs decided to pick my dog up in his arms (good thing Bluepuppy is friendly!). Before I could tell him to put him back down he threw Bluepuppy out of his arms to see him run and started laughing Shock

When I told him ‘don’t throw my dog’ the man just laughed and said something along the lines of ‘he’s fine, he likes it’.

Some people live in an alternate universe. How did he know my dog didn’t have some kind of injury?

Think I’ll stick with my whippet meet ups, doggy day care and on leash walks from now on.

Crazy!

BastardGoDarkly · 29/12/2017 09:33

How fucking odd!? Glad your dog is alright!

Isthatwhatdemonsdo · 29/12/2017 09:33

I think I would've picked him up and thrown him! The Tosser. Hope your dog is ok.

Anxious123 · 29/12/2017 09:37

What?! I'd of been throwing him into a wall! Stupid fool. Glad doggys ok. There's some really odd folk about.

Wolfiefan · 29/12/2017 09:39

WTF?!?!
I wish we lived on the same continent. Wolfie dog and I would've sat on the bastard for you.
What kind of idiot thinks that's ok ?!?! Angry
Hope pup is ok.

bluetongue · 29/12/2017 09:57

Pup is fine thanks. Whippets might look delicate but they’re pretty sturdy little things.

I almost wish I’d been more angry but think I was a bit in shock to be honest.

Stupid man had also taken his shoes off at the park so Bluepuppy grabbed a shoe and sprinted around the park with it Grin

Has he forgotten to make his meds?

CheekyFuckersAreEntertaining · 29/12/2017 10:37

I'd have thrown his shoe as far as possible and said, "It's fine, it likes it!" And walked away.
I HATE people interfering with other's pets. We've had ponies take very ill thanks to clueless well meaning dickheads feeding them all manner of treats as they pass our fields (and with Scotland's "right to roam" there's nowhere we can keep them away from public access) and giving our laminitis prone ponies laminitis which results in huge vet fees. Please people, don't give random horses and ponies sugar cubes, Polos or carrots etc without the permission of their owner.

I also had to fork out for vets fees to repair my poor cat's leg because a local kid picked her up. She has metal pins in her previously broken leg and the kid grabbed her by the leg. Any other cat would have been fine. Mine needed parts of the now protruding wire work clipped off. And no, the child's parents didn't pay.

BiteyShark · 29/12/2017 11:02

OH blue that is shit. Glad bluepup is ok but this is the reason why I try and avoid other humans when out with my dog as you can't tell the stupid/crap/nasty ones from the nice normal folk. Hope bluepup did a shit in his shoe.

bluetongue · 29/12/2017 11:22

Glad everyone agrees it’s crazy behaviour. Hours later I almost can’t believe he did it. Maybe more understandable if he was obviously deranged / under the influence but he appreared normal until the dog throwing took place.

I must say Bluepuppy did look particularly pleased with himself after the shoe stealing Grin

What a bizarre thing to do. What must have been going through his head? Let's hope the utter oddness of it has sunk into his head too.
