Hi I gave 2 golden retrievers and spend quite a lot if time in the evening getting up and letting them out into the back garden ....sometimes they just want to go out lie in the patio I think they get to warm in the house but I wait fir them and then bring them in. It would be so much easier with dog flap as they could go in and out without me supervising..anyone used them....your thoughts p,ease

Portal for burglars.

I wouldn't personally. I would worry about someone breaking in through it. Or the dogs being outside whilst I'm not home and being stolen. My dog has a decent walk then crashes out. If it's too hot in the house I can leave the back door open.

Possibly invalidate your house insurance

I had one for ten years, large enough for a tall lurcher, and it was fabulous. Provided the garden is secure, I cant see the problem- it would've had to have been a VERY lanky burglar to fit through the flap we had!

My friend has one, my ds5 tried to climb through it but for stuck (the door was for collie).

Dog just about squeezes through the cat flap.... Point blank refuses to come in through cat flap but will sit and bark to be let in.... Then run away when door is open and repeat...

We have used a dog flap for many many years. Our dogs come and go as they please. It really doesn't have to be big. We have quite a small one from when we just had terriers. We have since adopted a German Shepherd and she also uses it. A person could not get through it but we do have a very secure garden so I don't have to worry about being robbed or my dogs being nicked.

I always get the ones with a secure solid front that you can slot in if you are going out and you don't want the dogs wandering into the garden when home alone.
