What is this mark/injury on my dog?

My mini schnauzer had a good romp in the dog park with her pals this morning and got very muddy. DH and I have just given her a brush and found this mark under one of her legs, is it some kind of graze? Please tell me it’s not a tick bite, I have no idea what they look like!

What is this mark/injury on my dog?

My dog gets random grazes everywhere. It looks similar to the scrapes he gets. The hard part is keeping it clean and dry to scab over without them licking it.

Oh great thanks, I thought it probably wasn't anything to worry about as she doesn't seem at all bothered. its impossible to keep them clean and dry at this time of year!

I would just keep an eye on her and make sure she doesn't lick it as then it could get infected. Often I take photos on my phone so I can tell if it is starting to get worse or better (as you can tell it's a frequent occurrence in this house Sad).

Am sure there's every likelihood it's just a scrape, OP, so am not scaremongering - but do google Alabama Rot and keep an eye just in case ...

That looks nasty. I would want a vet to take a quick look and clean it up.

I second the poster saying look up Alabama Rot.

I guess I have just got used to random sore injuries on my dog Grin.

Obviously as others have said it never hurts to get a vet to check them over if in doubt.

If it’s a scrape my very practical vet would recommend slapping some sudacream on and making sure the dog doesn’t lick it (as that can cause infections). In our case I do that by making the hound wear a coat indoors !

I have sudocrem in that’s a good idea! I will look up Alabama rot.
