We’re going to be fostering a 13 week old whippet cross puppy and will be picking her up on Saturday. I have just spoken to the charity we will be getting her from and because she was abandoned and they will be collecting her directly from the pound she doesn’t have collar/coat/lead.
She is out first sighthound foster so we don’t have anything suitable for her. Can anyone recommend a good brand/make we could order from, bearing in mind we will need to get something delivered ASAP.

Ha, our greyhound was a devil for a tub of butter. She'd pinch one and hare up the garden with it and lick it all over really quickly so it couldn't be salvaged. Did that with a steak once too. Grin

I'm afraid we never got her to settle at night either. For weeks we tried all sorts of antics to get her to settle with no success, then we gave in and let her sleep in our bed until her adoptive brother arrived (we had planned on being a one dog household!).

She looked like your pup as a baby!

Its more like having a toilet training toddler I think - you're constantly trying to work out when they might need a wee/poo, trying to direct it in the right place, then trying to get them to sleep where you want, and persuading them to walk where you want at a suitable pace. And like with toddlers, bribery is powerful as is the ability to rise from the sofa at high speed and leg it across the room..

But then the little beggars come and snuggle up to you and snuffle at you while they snooze and all is forgiven

Yes! Toddlers. Naughty but oh so lovely.

Our lurcher girl ate a tub of butter too. I was out for drinks at a friends house and my son phoned me to ask how much butter was in the tub. I said it was brand new, he replied well theres none left now.
I confess I stayed out longer than planned and my dh had the joy of the vommed up butter a short time later.
Hasn't put her off, anytime the butter is out you see her nose twitching, her absolute favourite is buttered toast. She can be at the other side of the house sleeping but as soon as anyone even puts the bread in the toaster she rockets into the kitchen looking hopeful.

Oh god it's like some kind of pointy addiction! I've never known any other dog do that?? I guess none of them could reach but still...

GothicRainbow · 20/12/2017 22:03

Loving all the naughty pup tales!! Feel like I’m getting myself fully prepared for our little trouble maker.

My eldest DS is 4.5 so we have been through potty training with him, little pup will be next and then my youngest DS who is 21 months will be after that!!

I am looking forward to them all growing up together 😍
