Noise Complaint about my dog

I have just received a complaint from the council about my dog barking late at night and early in the morning. I am fairly certain it is from someone whose garden backs on to mine and who has recently moved in.

The dog goes out first thing at 6am - I am making tea at that point so although she barks to be let in, it will be less than a minute. I generally go to bed at 10.30/11 midweek and again I am pottering around in the kitchen so the dog will bark a few times and be let back in - very occasionally it will be later or earlier.

I don't consider the level of barking to be unreasonable or the above times to be particularly late or early, but would be interested to know what is considered excessive noise.

Yeah. Most people's dogs go in and out without needing to bark. You need to leave the door open for him.

You sound like my NDN who have 2 very vocal dogs.
They bark at anything, usually i am blissfully unaware (when I'm at work) but they do bark in the day, early am (like 2am Hmm ) early like 6am Hmm .

I hear their tails hitting off furniture too.

I hear the owners telling them to Shut Up ( while I'm standing on my side of the wall cursing ShutYourFuckingDogsUp but of course they don't hear that.

The son puts them in the garden and turns up the music so they bark outside.

One night they barked for 90 minutes solid. I went round to the house , no answer until one family member came home and told me the reason they barked was because I knocked. No, other way round. I wasn;t knocked for 90 sodding minutes.

I have been round at 2am too to knock them up.

They get into my garden because they don't check the fences (their fences especially after a storm)

One day I will combust Angry

Incidently , my previous NDN had 4 dogs, the only time they barked was when they knew they were going out and it was a "Woof" not an ongoing row.

So yes , your NDN is quite right to complain. Barking dogs are a social nuisance and complete pain in the arse.
