Incident in Manchester

Anyone read about the incident in Eccles where a beagle was mauled to death by a ridgeback Staffy cross and a bully kutta?

From reading various articles it's alleged the beagle went up to those dogs, tried to get their ball and the two dogs turned. The owner of those two dogs couldn't get them off and then walked away hoping they would follow. He couldn't gain control of the situation and the beagle was killed.

I've seen the article. Absolutely awful thing to happen to the beagle. The comments section on the local newspaper alleged that the owner of the attacking dogs had been training them to hang off tyres and they had form for aggressive behaviour.

The guy has surrendered his dogs to the authorities and he has spoken to the local newspaper.
He said his dogs are nice family dogs, they never shown aggression, he doesn't know where it came from,
He alleged his dogs came out of the leads but in the video clip, neither dog had a collar on.

A dog doesn't go from a normal happy family dog to a killer just like that. There must have been signs over a period that he missed.

Heartbreaking. I’m angry after seeing the video preview.

The white dog definitely looks like an illegal breed, the owner’s being a bit creative with the breed mixes isn’t he?

The stupid owner shouted at the woman ‘why isn’t the dog on a lead?’ - why weren’t his disgusting little monsters on a lead?? Apparently the beagle was dead within 30 seconds - those dogs should not have been unleashed if they were so unpredictable and awful with recall. The white dog left the beagle alone for a bit just to come back for round 2Sad devestating

I thought I read they were rescue dogs? I'm not sure you can conclude that he knew their exact ancestry, any more than you can identify an illegal breed by looking.

I created a thread about this on Wed as a colleague showed me the clip without warning. It really affected me. Another mumsnetter lives in the area said the dogs have attacked before numerous times. I hope they are destroyed and they throw the book at the owner. The white dog was a bully kutta with clipped ears. A breed known for aggression and the clipped ears indicative of dog fighting. Words fail me Sad

If you get a dog of that breed then you need to know what its temperament is like and what it's capable of.
The dogs should be obedience trained and him to have the skills to break up an event like this.
He didn't gain control until it was way too late.
What was he thinking of walking away while those dogs were ripping the beagle apart????

I find it odd that both dogs came off the leads snd both dogs had no collars on.
Him going to the press, is it his way of trying to paint himself as a responsible owner?
If he had incidents with other dog owners as mentioned by some MN who live in the area, won't it just attract them to counter what he claimed?

My heart goes out to the family who loved their beautiful beagle, what a horrible, wicked thing to happen.
Good friends of ours lost their lovely irish wolfhound puppy right in front of them when a bastard pit bull attacked him. It broke their hearts, they had PTSD afterwards and they had to get lawyers involved to get the vet fees paid by the pit bull's owners, and our friends ended up moving house as well because the bastard owners lived just across the way from them. It is sickening

He has released photos of his toddler daughter sitting and lying on the dogs as 'proof' of what lovely family pets they are

Anyone with a modicum of dog experience can instantly see the body language of the dog is anything but happy with the child.

The idiot owner knows the square route of fuck all about dogs and shouldn't have had any dogs, let lone those 2

And from the brief clip of the video I saw, he is walking away from the fight without making any sort of effort to call the dogs off. He is running away from the situation

Vile vile vile. I hope he gets prosecuted
