Who the fuck crosses a staffie with a huskie?

Popped up on a local fb selling page. Staffie x huskie 16 week old puppy for sale due to a change in circumstances.

I don't know a great deal about either breed. But is it just me that thinks that crossing a big, powerful dog like a huskie with a high prey drive with a bull breed like a staffie is jusk asking for trouble? I kniw staffies get bad press and are generally lovely dogs when properly brought up but I imagine anyone looking for an aggressive looking designer dog won't necessarily socialise and train in properly.

This isn't a pop at crossbreeds. Just at irresponsible fuckers trying to profit from shit like this.

Can't begin to imagine the logistics of that. ...

chocdog · 17/11/2017 18:09

An unscrupulous, ignorant greedy bastard, that's who. Is there any way to report such breeders? There should be.

Soubriquet · 17/11/2017 18:09

Probably the same people who crossed a bulldog and a shih tzu....

New crossbreed, unusual crossbreed = people want them

Wolfiefan · 17/11/2017 18:14

Hope you reported it. FB is not the place to sell animals.
Change of circumstances my arse. They've realised they have a strong dog that's going to eat a fair bit and need shitloads of training. They've missed a key period for socialisation and realised it's going to be a LOT of works.

Carouselfish · 17/11/2017 18:15

Irresponsible, ignorant of dog behaviour and welfare, greedy tosser basically.

Frouby · 17/11/2017 18:55

If I report it though poor pup probably going to end up on gumtree or similar. I don't think it's the breeder selling it, just the silly fuckers who bought it in the first place.

We see a fair few huskies around here, seem to be 'in' atm. I see folk with them tied to their waist running. I see a couple out on trikes with the dogs towing them along.

Then I see some being walked around our local park/field looking bored to death, snapping and lunging at other dogs on their pink harnesses and think it's a miserable dog that needs hours of physical and mental exercise being walked like a 'normal' dog and it's no where near enough.

My little whippet had a little op last week and was on reduced exercise for a week. She has been a pita. Either mithering for a walk, mithering for the garden or mithering for attention and she is generally a lazy fucker who likes nothing better than being flat out on the sofa.

I dread to think what a huskie would be like without enough to do. Add to that a staffie head and jaw and it's protective nature and it's going to be one hell of a dog to manage.

And I bet the litter size was 6+. And I bet they charged £500+.

Upwards of 3k for putting 6+ potential serious issues out there.

FB won't guarantee it a better home than scumtree.
Yep. Silly fuckers about covers it.

MsGameandWatching · 17/11/2017 18:59

I think this about Shar Peis crossed with Staffies which is becoming a regular thing where I live. I personally know two and they're both unpredictable nasty animals that I see lunging at any dog passing and one of whom attacked my small terrier. Idiots do this, that's what.

Wolfiefan · 17/11/2017 19:01

Shar pei cross staff?! Jeez.
Pomski?!
Where will it end?! Angry

scattyhattie · 17/11/2017 19:08

Imagine with that cross they'd be high energy & chew loads when bored. However any breed/mix puppy is at risk of being offloaded as people often don't consider what's involved in owning a dog let alone extra time/input and mess with raising a puppy.

Huskies are more of a lifestyle choice given activity needs so a poor choice for average dog owner. I've a high drive, independent minded greyhound x with staffy, she's actually turned out more responsive to training than my full greys as character is very people oriented like staffy. Physically she's poor example of conformation but see many popular poodle mixes at work that have orthopedic issues too.

Frouby · 17/11/2017 19:11

I know it won't guarantee it wolfie but I would never, ever look for an animal on gumtree. I am just hoping someone with a smidge of common sense sees it on fb shite selling page. Probably not but I don't think fb is any worse than gumtree or similar. And at 16 weeks I hope the pup has a chance Confused.

I imagine that some of the litter may also fit into the "pit bull type" dog - leggier with a lighter nose

BumpowderSneezeonAndSnot · 18/11/2017 14:31

I have a border collie x husky...anything crossed with a husky will be stubborn and high energy and need walking for miles and miles and miles.
I just hope the pups are an accidental litter.

CornflakeHomunculus · 18/11/2017 16:11

I just hope the pups are an accidental litter.

Given how easily information is available these days I don't buy the "accidental litter" excuse any more. Whilst there is some scope for genuinely accidental matings (though I'd put money on most being down to either carelessness or ignorance), the most minimal research into bitches being mated accidentally will bring up plenty of information regarding options other than just going ahead and having the litter regardless.
