Equafleece anyone ?

Decided to order one for my dog Alf , not sure whether to get the tankie or the coat .
Is the tankie difficult to get on ?
Ive measured him and it comes out as him needing the 16' small russell , are they usually a good fit .
tried a few coats on him now in pet shops and none were a very good fit , so hoping these are better .

I use the jumpers for my whippets and the sizing has always been spot on.

I prefer the jumpers, tankies or suits as the whippets have very little hair on their chests/bellies so need the extra coverage. I don’t find them hard to put on at all; over the head first then just gently post their front legs through one at a time.

I use the jumpers for my patterdale and agree with pp re fit , they also wash and dry really well , som of ours are 6 yrs old and still look as good as new . We also have an equafleece coat but use it a lot less than the jumpers . I find the jumpers very easy to get on / off , dog just lifts his legs for me one at a time

thanks , i wondered if the jumpers may be a little tight going over the head but he does have his fur trimmed very short underneath so probably best .

I bought a coat for my pug as he doesn't really like anything put over his head. He's only 10 months old and I wouldn't say that he was particularly big but I ordered the 16" to start (based on measurements) and decided it was too small.

After talking to a very nice customer service lady (and emailing her a pic of my rather fed up looking boy modelling his too small coat) she advised me to reorder the larger 18" size. I sent it back and had the new one within a couple of days.

I have the jumper and no problems at all with it. Dog doesn't like things being pulled over her head but it only takes seconds. I found their instructional video and it was very helpful - I just put a treat on the floor and lift it over her head as she puts her head down, and vice versa at the end. As soon as I got the hang of it it was no bother at all.

I do love the equafleece, the dirt just falls off it and it washes brilliantly. Dog possibly finds my choice of colour a little humiliating! Here she is in it after a long walk to the pub.

We got it at a dog show where Ddog was measured for it. I'd already looked online but in the end she needed the next size up from what I'd measured her as. This seems not unusual reading this thread. So if in any doubt, phone and ask for advice.

This arrived yesterday - the dog jumper not twatdog I’ve had him 3 long years.

Anyway he was an awkward bastard about measuring but what arrived is an utterly perfect fit their software is amazing!

He was also an awkward bastard about putting it on the first time but then got all excited when I got it out today for a trial run. I let him swim in the lake and everything and under the fleece he stayed home dry I’m astonished!! He was swimming!!

I want to order an equafleece for my lurcher pup but at 6 months old I'm not sure how much growing he has left to do? Should I wait or just get one and hope for the best. He's a skinny minny due to some earlier tummy problems and I do worry that he's going to start feeling the cold now

Equafleeces are great - and despite PestDog being a funny shape (odd mixed breed), there was a coat that fits him perfectly. Dirt largely falls off (e.g. if he rolls in dry earth, which he likes to do) and washes well if he gets caked in mud.

@Monkey as dog coats only really work if they're relatively close fitting (growing room = draughts = cold), personally I'd buy one now that's not an equafleece but more adjustable (i.e. has some sort of tightening mechanism around the middle) and then resign yourself to buying an equafleece next winter once he's full grown. Or buy an equafleece now, hope he doesn't grow too much and accept you might have to replace next winter.

I'm thinking of buying one for my whippet. He's a bugger with any coats that have Velcro fastenings and will happily 'undress' himself in seconds using his pointy nose. He has a cheaper version of equafleece that has worked well but is now a bit tight across his chest and still too big around his middle.

I think I'll measure him and see if there is one on ebay and if not just make do with the cheap one I got as a temporary measure (it fits ok up top but is a bit flappy because of his skinny hips)

We have a polar neck fleece for our whippet - it’s possibly a little short but as she likes to grab the back end of it and twirl around in a circle I’m not too bothered. It’s great for keeping her warm and dries really quickly after washing. It slips over her head and has an adjustable under tummy belt so no easy undo Velcro and it stays in position pretty well too. Love it!

This is a thread about a fleece dog coat so not a huge leap to imagine what it was going to be about....

Mine's got the fleece jumper and loves it. He's a super fit and lean cocker spaniel so when we get home from a walk he's normally shaking with cold so he gets a towel off and then jumper on for an hour or so. I daren't ever put anything on him outdoors though, he'd strangle himself in moments the way he runs through hedges and undergrowth.

I haven't heard of these before. Just googled them. Are they worth the money?

Negan I know a few people in real life who have them and absolutely rave about them.

Negan we only just got ultra do can’t come t on wear and tear but fit, coverage and waterproofing so far so good!! This is a game changer for my dog who hates being bathed but loves swimming. My spaniel needs a good clip but once he’s trimmed right down on his legs his post walk clean down will be reduced to a quick wipe with a tea towel.

I tried one once (the jumper style) for my dog, caught out away from home with bad weather; the size was right for him but the 'armholes' were too high, somehow, or there was some other kind of tailoring fault; he squeaked when I put it on him and never let me do it again. I stuck to custom made, with which he was comfortable.

I'd say mine was worth the money, yes. I did baulk at the price a bit! But it's been one of those things you think afterwards what a really good investment it was - I'm chewing over getting her a second in a less ridiculous colour for Christmas (ours is dayglo orange but I like it on dark winter walks).

DDog (photo higher up, thank you OP, for saying she's cute 😊)is a Jack Russell/ spaniel cross with completely white, very fine fur. You can easily see her pink skin when you brush her and she visibly shivers in the cold. As well as keeping her warm, it comes back filthy after walks and all that dirt would otherwise be on our floors and furniture! The coat dries quickly and washes well. So yes, I'd spend the money again.

A bit depends on your dog, though. Our other two are shelties (hairy) and I wouldn't bother with anything like an equafleece - they'd swelter.

My dog is shih tzu/jack russell cross and he shivers terribly, so it might be worth looking at getting one. Find it difficult to get things to fit him thoug. Mostly, small is too small and medium is too big! He's just awkward-but lovely!
