Dog eaten stuff he shouldn't

My mum's 12 week old collie pup has managed to chew and partially eat a foam dinosaur model belonging to my lo.

It was one of those foam models from wilkos, he's probably eaten 3 pieces of the foam, the rest we took away from him after he tried to bite me for taking it away after a lot of growling.

I know dogs eat all kinds but foam models probably aren't a really good idea, will he pass it or should he go to the vet? He's doesn't seem unwell or out of sorts.

Our dog ate loads of foam from inside a sofa seat cushion (during the night when he was due at the vets the next day to be neutered). We phoned the vet to cancel op (he was supposed to be starved for op) and ask advice. They said wait and see, he threw up shortly after and was fine. If you arent sure call your vet/vet nurse for advice.

Our dog used to eat our socks. He was fine. They came out the other end... we threw them away.

Haha, what a shame about the socks! 😂

He hasn't been sick or anything so I'm hoping he ate the absolute minimum of it. Was more annoyed about him going for me than anything else! He's never done it before.

Keep an eye on him to make sure he is pooing. If not, it may be a sign the foam is causing a blockage. Fingers crossed he will be okay, they normally are! The amount of things my two have eaten 🙈

The growling was him warning you, you carried on so he tried to bite - that’s what dog do, however it sounds like guarding which is not an ideal habit in any dog.

Does he do any training classes?

Grimmfebruary · 19/10/2017 14:36

He's about to start puppy socialisation and training as well as agility. He's never growled or snapped at anyone before like that and he's had a whole host of stuff he shouldn't have that has been taken from him by different people.

Nothing seems blocked today so hopefully he ate very little of it 😂
