Picky eater?

So puppy has decided to become a picky eater...he will love a new food for the first couple of times then turn his nose up at it afterwards. The only thing I can guarantee he will always eat are chicken/meat...

He's on extremely pretentious wet good with good kibble for texture (food actually smells yummy)....but half the time he won't eat it. I don't offer anything in particular until the next meal, but I think he'd rather go hungry!

Any thoughts/experience? I'm not changing brands every few days...

You keep changing every few days. That's why he won't eat it. He knows he will get another choice of he doesn't.
Saying that mine wouldn't eat kibble. Not at all. We are on raw now. She demolishes it.
Is he a healthy weight?
Don't feed between meals.
Also how old is he? How often is he fed?

He's 8 month old Maltese healthy weight. I'm not actually changing brands every few days - the wet food comes in 4 flavours so I alternate between those. He will eat kibble sometimes....depends how hungry he is. I'm not sure he likes any of the flavours more than the others otherwise I'd stick with that one!

Currently on 2 meals per day - mid morning and early evening, plus the odd treat while training.

I'm happy to do the eat what's offered and don't offer anything else - I'm assuming when he's hungry he will eat?

Mine wouldn't!! She really hates the dried food. I ended up sprinkling stuff on top to try and entice her to eat it. That and suspected allergies made us switch to raw. Now that she will eat!! Tripe is grim though!!

We have had this and what worked for us was giving the dog less food., Really hard to do when the dog is losing weight and not eating.

However cutting down the portion sizes and only leaving the food down for 15 mins then picking it up again until the next meal worked wonders.

I swear my pup did not eat anything for 5 days then miraculously became a good eater. ( i however was on the gin and valium as I was so worried!)

Honestly I wouldn't worry, dogs don't starve themselves they will eat when they are hungry. One of mine usually only eats once a day despite being offered 2 meals and another of mine sometimes doesn't eat for a day, that's just how she is. My other 2 however gobble down both meals and sniff about for more. If he doesn't eat just take it away and wait until next meal, he'll be fine (also I love malteses, fabulous breed).
