Crusty nose on a 10 year old GR

Has anyone any advice? She gets it every year and she isn't poorly. It isn't overly sore, not infected at all...just a bit crusty!
I have put Vaseline on it before but wondered if anyone has experience of these special balms or ointments advertised.

My Boxer used to get this. I used to work vasceline onto his nose every day, and then after a few days when the crusty bits had softened, I used a soft cloth to gently rub them off. The vet told me it was growths similar to warts. Used to come back again, but I just repeated the routine again.
