My dog cut her pad

So my dog cut her pad on her back foot when out with her dog walker last week. It was bleeding quite a bit but bleeding stopped in about an hour and we were able to clean it up for her. Its a small slice about 6mm but probably that deep again. We left it to see how she was the next day.

The next day I took her out and she was ok on grass but understandably limped when walked on concrete. The next day I skipped a walk to let her heal. From then she's been fine, not fussing it or limping.

Then yesterday she suddenly started limping again and not putting any weight on her foot, shes also licking it a lot and it looks a bit swollen.

I'm guessing a trip to the vets is on the cards but any advice would be very much appreciated.

I had something similar in which he managed to take the surface of the pad away from skidding and because he had been licking his paw the paw was sore as well.

We now have a cone to stop him licking it until it heals Sad

Put some sudocrem on and a sock. Tape the sock on with medical tape!!

We tried a bandage but she got really stressed out and was running around limping and panting! The sock is probably a better idea though.

She won't wear a cone of shame unfortunately, its impossible!

To be honest we have to have the cone on because he also has an eye infection at the same time otherwise a sock sounds much easier Grin

Likely now infected. Vet tomorrow and go from there.
