We adopted a lovely staff from the RSCPA 3.5 years ago, she is so good with my kids and just the love of my life. (I am 36/40 so a bit emotional)
8 weeks ago she started coughing, were told kennel cough which i thought she had been vaccinated against so bit of a shock. She has abx and seemed better on an off but was still coughing so back to the vets.
They eneded up checking her soft palate, all clear, but her chest x-ray showed a possible mediastinal mass, on Friday Vet thought it might be fluid but has now changed her mind. I am still awaiting from Friday a proper report on whether it is a mass or not. She is coughing and now bubbling a bit so has gone on some steroids and abx.
Has anyone ever had a dog with a mediastinal mass and what was the outcome? Googling hasn't really helped. We have little idea on her age tbh we were told she would now be 6ish but actually feel she is a lot older. Today was the first day I felt she was suffering with her breathing hence the medication starting.
This dog helped me so much with my last baby and was there for overnight feed, dh works nights. I'm so worried about her, but would NEVER want to see her suffer.
Any advice or experience appreciated, even if its not an ideal outcome. TIA
