Why do people take their dogs to ....

Big, busy events like Burghley Horse trials for instance.

Went there today but left my dogs at home. There were loads of unhappy dogs there. It was hot, it was crowded. People were dragging poor dogs into the shops, they were walking all round the XC course in the heat, they were sitting in amongst legs and getting trodden on. 2 had obviously had enought and started a fight!

Why do people take them? I'm pretty sure my 2 were far happier at home in the cool house, sleeping the day away.

I guess because some dogs cannot be left that long at home so the easiest option is to take them with you.

Yep, dogs can't be left for more than a few hours, so if you've got no one at home, you have to take them with you. Or you can book them into care, though that can also be restrictive, as you often have to pick up by 5/6pm.

Haha. We were at Burghley too, in the arena, and witnessed several dog fights!
There is a dog creche at Burghley.
We seriously considered taking ours, but seeing some of the daft behaviour of other dog owners we realised we had made the right choice. They do ask that only well behaved dogs are taken, but some owners hadn't read the memo.
Having said that there were quite a few bored small children too.
