Small dog , how much food ?

My new dog weighs about 7.6kg . The vet said he is a little portly and i should keep an eye on his weight .
I am feeding him mostly dry food with a little wet food mixed in as that is what hes been used to .
Looking on the bag it says dogs weighing 5kg-10kg could have 70g - 140 g
so , i have been giving him 70g dry and half a small tin mixed in .Does this sound ok ? His weight has stayed the same , i have weighed him weekly for the last 4 weeks .

He has two hour long walks per day aswell . I think he could do with being a bit slimmer but feel like i might be starving him if i give him any less food , although i'm really not sure .

Maybe give him more wet and less dry as the dry stuff will likely contain more carbs so make them more prone to putting on weight

If he's not losing weight then cut his food a bit more. The recommended amounts are only guidelines and they're almost invariably too generous. They're also based on ideal weight, not current weight so even if they were accurate you'd need to be feeding him the appropriate amount for what weight you want to get him to rather than what he is now.

Recommended amounts are definitely only recommendations. My dog and my bro's dog have same idea weight 7.5kg and are on the same food which recommends 70-120g for their weight. They are different breeds, mines an unneutered male, his a neutered female - my dog needs over the recommended range of food to keep him in good condition but my brother's needs less than recommend range to thrive and not get fat.

Unfortunately if he isn't losing weight and needs to you need to feed him less or up the exercise if appropriate. Does he like vegetables such as carrots, cauliflower etc? Could you give him some to help him feel full whilst reducing the normal amount of his food.

yes , he seems to like a bit of raw carrot . What hes having in his bowl seems like a small amount , i thought he would have lost weight especially since his previous owner was giving him scraps of her meals too and i haven't been doing .

also , still having an issue with him growling (posted about this the other day) . Hes only doing it to my son and for no apparent reason . He did it the first week we had him , then he was fine for 2 weeks and now its started again worse than before. ds is 16 , so not little but hes getting upset about it .
I have been to the vets initially , who gave him a quick check over and i am waiting to speak to the lady from the local dog training . I'm not sure what the problem is .
