Rescue lurchers?

We are considering getting a dog, have been for a while and just wondered if anyone knows of particularly good rescues for pointy hounds ? Thinking of a lurcher of some sort as might be slightly smaller than greys. I know about ELGR and they sounds great as they use foster homes, important as we have children and a cat. But are there any other good ones Oxfordshire,Berks, bucks, Hants etc?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Hounds First and Greyhound Gap use fosterers all over the place. Lurcher SOS are based in the south east not a million miles away from the area you want. Southern Lurcher Rescue might be worth a look as well.

Greyhounds can vary quite a bit in size and petite bitches can be really quite small. If size is an issue have you considered whippets? They don't come into rescue as frequently as greys or lurchers/longdogs (although whippet lurchers/whippet crosses turn up fairly often) but there are a couple of whippet-specific rescues if you're interested: Just Whippets and JR Whippet Rescue.

We have a rescue lurcher and a cat. In the house, dog avoids cat; in the garden, cat is fair game. Fortunately, we live in a bungalow and the cat has devised a route over the roof and through the velux.

Thanks for links cornflake, I will have a look. Our cat is quite savvy so will avoid dog like yours if needed.
Thanks for replies.

This article on keeping cats and dogs together is well worth a read. It mentions terriers but the advice applies just as well to any breed or type with a potentially high prey drive.
