HELP - my 5.5 year old dog been diagnosed today with spondylosis deformans

Hi everyone
I have a wonderful german short-haired pointer. He's a gorgeous kind and active dog. For the last 3 years he's suffered intermittently with back pain. When he has been at home with me, he has shown no sign of discomfort. I suspect this is because I know him well enough that I can tell when he needs to take it easy. Problems have only really occurred when other people have kindly looked after him for me.
Yesterday I came back from holiday and picked him up from my in laws and he was obviously suffering so I took him to the vet. She took x-rays and said he had grade 3 spondylosis. She has given him some pain relief injections today and we are to give him Loxicom.
He is still in pain however and I guess it will take some trial and error to find a way to manage it going forward.
Any tips/words of advice gratefully received.

thank you

Check out the ramp register and find a animal MSK therapist near you. If he was human a physio or Chiro would help, it will also help him as a dog Smile
