Holiday without the dog

We've got a little dog who is now 3 years old. I adore him and he's very attached to me. Since we've had him we've been away in this country and took him with us. This year my husband and daughter want to go abroad. My Mum will look after him whilst away but I'm delaying booking anything because of the thought of leaving him.....pathetic I know but a real problem for me. Has anyone got any words of wisdom ,other than stopping being so stupid!

I absolutely adore my dogs and miss them horribly when we go away.

They couldn't care less. They go to my mum's who spoils them more that I do and when I come back they just look at me like... who are you again?

I missed mine terribly when I went away for a few days but I know he had a fab time with his carer.

You can't expect the family not to go on their chosen holidays for the next 10+ years. Your dog will be looked after by your mum so someone presumably he knows. Ask your mum to look after him for a couple of nights leading up to the holiday so both of you get used to being apart.
