I've now had my ten week old Shih Tzu puppy for a fortnight.

We don't have a garden, so haven't been able to take her out to toilet while her vaccinations kick in. We have a small balcony space off the kitchen (first floor flat) so I've been training her to go on there on a puppy pad. She's picked this up pretty well and I'm fairly impressed so far.

However I now want to move her down stairs for toileting. We have a small yard at front of property which she can use.

What would be the best way to do it? Should I just start taking her out there instead of letting her onto balcony? She's gotten really used to balcony and I'm worried about confusing her. At the same time I'm not keen on my balcony being used as a toilet any longer than nessacary! She does respond to being told to "go wee" so hopefully that will help.

Any helpful tips much appreciatedSmile

I'd completely stop using the balcony, continuing to do so will confuse her more. Then follow this guide right from scratch.

Thank you CornflakeHomunculus

I have pretty much been following the advice on that guide. She's barely had an accident inside since we got her. Unfortunately we've had no choice but to use our balcony as the front of property isn't fox proof.

I was so excited that today was the day she can start going out. Until we had a monsoon all day that isHmm
