Lab moulting like crazy after stay in kennels

Even the kennel staff said they'd never seen anything like it and they've known a lot of labs.

Could it be stress? He always seems pleased to go to the kennels. Picked him up today and it's coming out of him in spades. They even gave him a bath to try and get some of it out. I've just brushed him and got another six brushfulls out. He's never been this hairy.

Mine moulted A LOT when we first got her (she's a rescue but was only at kennels for a week) - I could have made another dog out of her! She settled down and is just coming to the end of another moulting bout! I need to hoover twice a day at its worst...
