What kind of lead for escape artist terrier?

She manages to slip out of every harness we've had for her. They're the ones that the neck and the front two paws go through - kind of underpants shaped when off. I've even altered one to make sure it fits properly as she has a slim long neck and a barrel body. I've looked at the 'webmaster' ones (think they're called) - they go across the whole body, but I'm not willing to shell out up to 70 quid on one. What other options for my wriggly terrier girl?

There are quite a few cheaper options for harnesses with an extra belly strap which is the only thing that makes a harness properly inescapable.

I use the Indi-Dog Houdini for all my dogs. One is a proper escape artist and the others are whippets who can accidentally slip out of many normal harnesses without even trying. I've not had a single escape plus they're made to measure so fit them all perfectly.

Sowinka Designs on Etsy do a similar harness which I've heard great things about but haven't tried one myself.

One Stop Harness Shop seems popular with whippet folk wanting safe harnesses, again no personal experience though.

There's one similar-ish to the Ruffwear available now at Pets at Home. I can't remember off the top of my head what brand it is, I think it might be one of their own brands but could be wrong..

Just found the Pets at Home one, it's the 3 Peaks Excursion and is very similar indeed to the Ruffwear one.

Do you think a Martingale collar would work? She does have a whippety neck?

I've managed to contain DBros tri-paw (it's a front leg she is missing) small terrier Houdini (who is also dog aggressive) in a 'perfect fit harness'. Go to the website, measure dog but don't order online, you need to call them, explain you've got a Houdini dog and they will work out sizing slightly different to the normal online ones. Because they can come apart into 3 separate parts are really adjustable and they can mix and match different sized parts (for example my Cavalier's harness is made up of a small girth, xs front and an xxs top) so it fits really snug all over.

Bro's dog is a jack Russell cross breed of some type and has a wide neck and small narrow head.

Thank you everyone - I've ordered two lovely ones from the Etsy seller recommended here.
