Book recommendations for clicker training

Thinking about using clicker training with my new pup and hoping for some good book recommendations pleaseSmile

Silly question, but does the clicker totally replace voice training? For example when house training would you just treat and click when pup goes in the right spot? No good dog or making a fuss?

DH struggles to get the right tone with pup and I'm thinking clicker might help overcome that?

Not just clicker training per se, but I really liked the happy puppy handbook as a general sort of guide when we got the puppy. She does cover clicker training and there's a lot of useful stuff on her website.

Clickers are really just event markers. So you teach the dog that each time they hear a click a treat appears, and then you can click and treat whenever they do anything you want them to, adding in voice commands later. Praise and making a fuss won't hurt either but the thing with a clicker is that you can do it immediately, even if you can't treat instantly. And they're always the same sound which is really helpful for consistency with a puppy, especially if you find getting the right tone hard.

There's also some good YouTube videos. Have a look for kikopup who has some really clear instructions.

Good luck with your new pup!

Thank you hometownunicorn (great name btw. Did you grown up in The nineties like me per chance?) I've ordered the book and been looking at the videos.

Pup is still very little, but we'll see how we get onSmile
