Dew claw removal

My poor boy has just had both dew claws removed. He's a golden retriever and we live rurally so he's torn them before running around fields and the vet (and DH) decided it was for the best.

He's pretty miserable, he's on antibiotics and pain killers.

How long is the recovery? It was DH took him to the vet so I didn't get to ask any questions.

My ddog1 had his removed when he was castrated (his dew claws had been partially removed as a puppy as he was bred for coursing), and it was only a couple of days before he had recovered
