Dog Harness

I'm after harness recommendations please.
Ideally one that can be used with the car seat belt but not essential.
It doesn't need to have the handle /pick up option.

Just comfy for the dog to wear and not too tricky to get on so that my elderly mum and the children can all do it easily.

to be fair I was fairly flummoxed by the website and sizing choices. I found it easier to measure my pup then email the customer services for some suggestions. They were brilliant and sent me a few different options to try then I sent back the bits that different fit.

I really like the perfect fit too. Both my dog and my brother's dog have one. Lovely and soft fleece lining and massively adjustable. The are also very secure (bro's dog is a three legged Houdini and this is the only one that contains her)

Perfect Fit harnesses are brilliant however they've not been designed to be used as a car harness. You really need one which has been crash tested. We ended up using a crate in the car as we tried a couple of crash tested (and expensive!) versions and my Houdini pup could back out of them in about ten seconds

Yes - I forgot to put about cars. In fact look up crash tests for harnesses' that say the are suitable for use in a car - they are horrific. The only decent one in crash tests I could find in the UK had loads of reviews saying if dog turned around, they got tangled.

That's what I've been thinking is going to happen Blue. The dog's not going to sit stock still for ever and I'm envisaging a tangled mess.
I think I'll stick with the boot option for the car.

Thanks for the other replies. I've measured the dog and I think I shall do as suggested and send the measurements in and let them suggest the correct sizes.

Can I recommend the Indi Houdini dog , and Indi harnesses in general . They are all made to measure and you can choose all the different colours to your own specification , they wash beautifully and are an amazingly reasonable price . Fwiw my dog has an elderly RAC dog car harness and he never gets tangled but then he generally sits still in the car .

We have a T-Touch one for mupdog, she hates stepping into one and this one comes completely apart so she doesn't have to, we just click it round her neck and then do it up round her belly and legs

Sorry just realised it's not really a car harness. Someone posted on here a while ago about a car harness that I think was safety tested...I think it was called a snooze something but I can't find it now!

Another vote for Perfect Fit here. If you call them their consumer service is great.

I much prefer a crate to harness for car safety. It also keeps the doggy muckiness in one place.

Dog's Trust supply a very good harness for houdini dogs which we all find easy to use. And it helps raise funds for a good cause.

If you're after a harness because you've got a puller, the Lupi is brilliant.

Thanks for all the comments. He isn't much of a puller and walks nicely with me but the dog walker we use one day a week likes a harness and I'd rather the children and my mum have him on a harness on the odd occasion that they take him out.
I'll check out the Dog's Trust website too.
