Just wanted to share that really. Must people are not wildly interested but I feel so grateful that we got her and just wanted to share the joy with people who get it.

She's settled like a dream. We've had her 7 weeks now and can't imagine life without her. We let her off for another burn-up today - she is terrifying coming towards you at what must be 40mph but she went like a loon for about 90 seconds and then just came to a halt beside us panting and that was it. I think she knows we're her people now. :)

Thanks for all the patting down when I was having a hugely anxious moment during the first week.

Anyone contemplating a rescue greyhound - do it. It is an utter joy. I still loved her when she bit through my work mobile phone 10 minutes before I was leaving for a trip away last week.

Preaching to the converted here! Adore my grey boys, currently both snoozing - one on the bed, one on the sofa Grin

CMOTDibbler · 19/07/2017 14:54

Awwww. I'm so glad you are happy!

I wish more people would adopt pointies, they are so wonderful and the rescues are bursting at the seams with dogs who largely are there through no fault of their own, and with no behavioural problems either

Floralnomad · 19/07/2017 14:58

I assume her toe nail healed ok then if she's running around again , sounds like she found herself a lovely home with your family .

Letitrain · 19/07/2017 14:58

A photo would be nice OP!

Flippetydip · 19/07/2017 15:07

Floral yes toe nail healed like a dream!

Letitrain your wish is my command - this is today. Life is hard for the old girl.

CMOT I'm very grateful for all the advice. It really is one of the best things we've done. She is the best addition to our family we could possible have wished for. Even DH is converted to the way of the pointy-hound. He said the other day every other dog looks really short and "square" now!

She's clearly not settled in!!!!!

What a beauty! Well done OP!

Rednailsandnaeknickers · 19/07/2017 15:19

Haha that's a happy grey! You've lost all rights to that sofa now. Lovely to see OP. Dogs are magic ✨

Flippetydip · 19/07/2017 15:43

We have another sofa - that one is hers - ours is ours (she sneaks on it occasionally when we're out but knows full well she's not allowed!) Bambhino we haven't gone down the bed route yet - she's not worked out the stairs!

Fabulous photo! :) Delighted for you.

Mrskeats · 19/07/2017 17:34

I have a pointy that's putting up with my puppy. Dog obsessed in this house Grin

Really enjoying our new dog :)
olliegarchy99 · 19/07/2017 17:47

I always find it amazing that they will barrel towards you at top speed and yet manage to avoid actual contact. I foolishly saw my lurch coming towards me at full speed when I first had him and thought I ought to side-step to avoid a collision Grin - result a bruised hip for me as he carried on with his original trajectory ( I am sure he thought I had taken leave of my senses!)
Pointy hounds are absolutely the best - and so dignified, beautiful and elegant not to mention loving.
thank you OP for the picture - made me smile - she is beautiful.

Ookmybanana · 19/07/2017 17:51

Oh she's a long-legged lovely lady!

It sounds (and looks) like she's taken to your home like a duck to water.

Flippetydip · 19/07/2017 18:56

Yes Ollie I decided the best course of action was to stay rooted to the spot. I have a tendency to shout "stand still" in sergeant major tones when she's hurtling round the garden.

Thank you for sharing my joy everyone :)

Yay! I love hearing from other happy greyhound rehomers Smile

I've had mine for just over 2 years now, and a month or so ago I took her to a beach in Norfolk and let her off lead for the first time. She looked so beautiful running across the sand that I actually cried.

Greyhounds are an absolute joy, OP. I'm sure you'll make each other very happy Smile

Really enjoying our new dog :)

It's so nice to read happy stories on here :)

Flippetydip · 20/07/2017 10:47

Love the pics of other greys (Mrs Keats, that is very sweet, although pointy looks very much likes she's putting up with pup, bless them!)

Petra (we nearly called DDog Petra!) I found it really emotional seeing ours run for the first time too - they take such obvious enjoyment from it and are just poetry in motion - stunning!

Petra beautiful photo.

There was a rescue greyhound running through the waves the length of our local beach the other day. It was a stunningly beautiful sight.
