Best garden material?

DDog has ruined the grass in the garden running about and when he does his toilet in the grass it is hard to pick up.

What is the best material to cover the garden that won't get destroyed by the dog?

I had artificial grass fitted about 7 years ago. It wasn't cheap, but it still looks amazing, is easy to clean up and doesn't traipse mud into your house. With 2 large dogs it's an absolute godsend!

I was looking at rubber play bark but I don't know anyone that has used it.

I wasn't sure how easy it would be to remove poo from artificial grass. Glad to see your recommendation. What breed do you have?

I separated a section of my garden just for the dogs and put gravel down. It took them about a week to learn but now they only do their business on their section. Now I have a nice lawn and it's easy enough to tidy up the dog's area.

Are they still allowed on the lawn but just do the business on the gravel or do they only go in the gravel area to play etc?

Just do their business on the gravel and they can play on the lawn but it's not large enough for them to really run about on (they are big dogs) so we go to the park for that. They've never been diggers and they're quite lazy so they mostly just sunbathe and play with their toys on it.

I have a German Shepherd and an Italian Spinone. Large dogs, big poos, and the Shep can sometimes have an iffy tum. Easy to pick up then you can hose down any residue. I've even put mild solutions of bleach on mine from time to time and you can also get special cleaners for it - Amazon is your friend for this.

I had gravel before, but quite frankly it got dangerous when they charged around playing, if it hit you it was like being shot! Also picking up on gravel means that it needs to be regularly topped up.
