Why why why why why?

Do your dogs do this?

(My two are teeny weeny which is why I let them up on the sofa... probably wouldn't if I had two German Shepherds...)

On the very rare occasion one of them has an accident for whatever reason (gets a fright, unwell etc) IT'S ALWAYS ON THE SOFA. Not on the hardwood floors which I could clean up in less than 2 seconds. Nope. On the black fabric sofa.

One of them has been sick today after scoffing too many treats off people at a pet show yesterday 3 times... 3 times ON THE SOFA. He wasn't even on the sofa, he jumped up just to be sick on it.

WHYYYYYYYYYY.

I think you already know how to prevent this
If you are going to allow them up there it's pretty likely they will make a mess so you have to decide how much you want them up there.
Ours isn't allowed on - he's a larger breed but even if he was tiny I would keep him off it ( it's the cats territory)

My dog is always on a sofa or in a bed but he knows to at least make for the back door if he's going to be ill , and we haven't had an accident on a chair since he was a puppy and weed in his sleep on an armchair . My mum has a sickly / occasionally incontinent geriatric dog and when he's in the lounge she puts puppy pads underneath a throw so that any accidents can be quickly and easily sorted .

My dog is massive (40kg) and he is allowed on the sofa. He's been sick 4 times today - every single time he has taken himself off and been sick outside. He isn't usually sick btw he ate some delicious cat leavings earlier.
I'm quite proud as usually he chooses just inside my bedroom, the carpet will never be the same!

I don't mind my dog on the sofa, she's only small, but, I have loose covers, and on top of that, throws, which are easily washed.

I feel your pain. recently had to throw out a £200 rug because it was my dogs preferred place to be sick/go to toilet.

MotherPie · 03/07/2017 21:26

Meant to say the rug only lasted 2 months. That's why I mentioned the price!

Ridingthegravytrain · 03/07/2017 21:28

Ours only get on the sofa when we have put their vet bed on it (big 30kg dogs) maybe train them to do this?

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 03/07/2017 21:29

I have two labs and they have their own sofa 😀. They never ever try and come up on any other sofas or chairs, which my friend thought would never be able to happen I.e they'd never know the difference. They do! Never seen them be sick on theirs. It's normally by the back door.
