He's had a cough that got bad which has been treated for the last 2 weeks with antibiotics, piritin and metacam. Results have been varied... Better some days... Bad (but still better than before) other days. Lymph glands have been up throughout. I now have to continue the metacam and piritin for another 2 weeks. He had a heart scan and chest X-ray at the beginning of the year which was fine and clear. I'm trying to convince myself that it's just allergies but I'm worried that it's cancer.

I don't know why I'm posting really, but he's my world. He's got me through serious illness, major operations, my mums terminal diagnosis and later her death. He's 12, but a young 12 Sad

You need to go back to the vets on Monday.

They will likely need to put a needle in and take some cells out of the glands to see whats going on or biopsy the glands to get a more accurate sample and see what your dealing with.

It might be infection. It could be cancer...but of all the cancers in dogs,Lymphoma(the one that most commonly cause's enlarged lymph nodes) is one of the most medically manageable with the longest survival times.

Fingers crossed for your boy. Its always scary and heart breaking when they get older and have health scares.
