Lost claw :(

I let Flipdog have her first burn up today in an enclosed and empty field. She came back to check on me intermittently and then when I called her back she came back like a dream, but came back minus a claw.

Have bathed in salty water and she's not in pain with it. Vet or not vet? Walks or no walks? Bandage or no bandage?

I'm delighted she came back (and she did look like she thoroughly enjoyed it!) but less delighted about the claw. When we got her from rescue it was at a very dodgy angle so I'm wondering whether it was something to do with her early retirement?

Any other advice gratefully received :)

Yes we're socking and bagging to go into the garden.

Floral I'm happy to say I've never bandaged a stump and hope never to any time soon.

Can you get vetwrap in chemists? I will try - what's the non-animal term for it? I've ordered some on ebay but could do with it for tomorrow really.

I know they do it in our local lloyds , if you just ask for the bandage that sticks to itself they'll know what you mean .

Perfect, I'll nip up tomorrow - have to go for Ovex for the DC. My how my life is so glamorous.

Another tip from our vet - when you bring them home from the vet ask for an old IV bag as they can be reused as waterproof boots for the garden and when you cut them down have wide tops so easy to get the foot in and out . We have waterproof dog boots as well but they are very fiddly to get on especially over a bandage .

Sounds like you have a lot going on !

Grin Always a lot going on - the joy of small children I guess - and now a lame grey. Poor old girl.

She's doing OK though - just a bit fed up I think with no walking. I will remember the IV bag tip for the next time - I'm sure there will be one!

The "human" version in the chemist will be called "Opsite" Smile
