Dog wee patches on grass - how do I get rid?

Put this over in the gardening section but no one responded - so please help wise dog owners!

I've got a rescue greyhound male, who happens to be the size of a small horse and has the wee to match. He's scorching huge patches of the grass, had a google and there are so many options. Any recommendations?

Either as a lawn solution or as an additive to his food/water. Thank you!

I have the same problem but just having to live with it. I think the additives have to go into ALL the water sources your dog drinks from. Mine drinks from puddles, streams etc so that rules that out.

Some people follow their dog and pour water on the patch straight after they have been which helps but I can't be out there all the time so that doesn't work for me.

You could try and get him to pee in one place and just live with the damage to that bit.

If anyone has a simply solution I would be interested as well

I don't if this works, but we were discussing this problem with a dog owner once. They told us a tablespoon of tomato juice on every meal for the dog eliminates brown patches on the grass!

Watching with interest as I have the same problem. At the mo I water thoroughly where I see her pee, but I can't watch her all the time, and since we've had the hot weather the urine scorching has become very obvious. Dog rocks would not work as she is a fussy drinker and I just know she wouldn't use a bowl with them in. Online reviews for drops you put on food are not good. I seriously thought about spraying the paches green with food dye! Or perhaps I should just stop worrying about it....

@Lucisky I thought about spray paint at the weekend when we had people over for a BBQ and it looked bloody awful!

@BiteyShark might try some dog rocks - he's so precious he won't even walk on wet grass so no danger of him drinking anywhere but his bowl. That may finally come in useful!

Pouring a watering can full of water on the area after each wee worked brilliantly but I soon got fed up with doing that.
So I've learnt to live with it, the grass always recovers when we get lots of rain.

@Medeci we are due a day of rain here, hoping might make some headway on the most scorchio patches!

My mum uses dog rocks in her doga water. They have helped. But she had to change from a regular water dish to a flower vase - deep enough that the rocks sat at the bottom so as not to interfere with the dogs drinking and wide enough at the top for the dogs to be able to fit their faces in iyswim.
