Too not to walk dogs?

32 degrees today.

Someone told me it's too hot to walk dogs. And cruel to do so as they can't regulate their body temperature.

Is that right?

I live near the beach so have been taking him early morning and late evening - about 6am and then about 9pm at night. He loves swimming and splashing in the sea

I was on the beach on Sunday afternoon with my kids and so many people were there with their dogs. The sand was too hot to walk on with bare feet, the dogs must have been roasting

I ran out to get something out of the boot of my car this afternoon and couldn't be arsed to put shoes on and the road was burning hot

Thank you for that Jiggly I've had a nagging guilt at not really walking ddog the last couple of days, so I took him out early today but this I had to carry him home and repeatedly wet him down he got so distressed and we were home before ten and walked less than two miles. He's a very small chihuahua/jrt and is really struggling with this heat. He's been asleep on a damp scarf most of the day. The vet recommended wetting his paws, splashing water on his back, putting ice in his water bowl all of which I am doing. I've also tied a wet scarf round his neck I swear I never worried about the dc so much I have actually cancelled lunch out tomorrow as I don't want to Leave him.

Oh no, you really don't! This heat is so dangerous for small dogs. I got up just before 6am to take my dog to the beach this morning before work because the dog walker can't take him in the daytime!

You can get cool coats which may help?

It's supposed to cool down Thursday/Friday too

I haven't been able to take DPup out for the last couple of days, as DH is away and I can't go out in the early morning/late at night. I'm aiming to go up to the woods (in the car) today with him, as DD is at preschool so I on't need carrying because she's wilting in this heat. I've been doing lots of training and interactive play with him, and he seems to be coping with just that.

We have a massive tree they can sit under outside and inside they lie on the cold tiles. I can't walk in the morning as I have to get children off to school. It's evening walks here and if I can't do that for some reason then I'd rather give them a day off walking as they have thick coats.
