I'm off to the vet tomorrow afternoon with our 11 year old British Bulldog to talk over his quality of life. He's really quite old for his breed and is now almost completely blind and deaf. If he walks any further than the grass round by our driveway his right hip starts playing up and he gets quite confused when walking - veering off course and bumping into things. We have him on a collar and lead to help steer him around obstacles but he seems to hate it. But when off the lead he will wander into bushes or fall off pathway into the road. Thursdays are the worst when we have to negotiate our way around all the wheelie bins.
He's also started being sick every few days for no apparent reason and he loses the use of his legs when he is being sick - falls all over the place. He's also had a few accidents in his sleep.

I've no idea what the vet will suggest so we will just see what happens tomorrow Sad

Flowers How did it go with the vets?

Aww OP it sounds like his quality of life is starting to be impacted. All you can do is have that chat and be guided by your dog Flowers

It went well actually and i got lots of advice on our options. Got some drops for his eyes to hopefully help clear them up without us having to clean them and risk inflaming them. He also really hates having them cleaned so he won't have to go through that. We decided against costly diagnostic tests as a general check showed he was in relatively good health otherwise. We just need to keep an eye on his eating/drinking and monitor the vomiting. Who knows how long he'll plod along for!
