Does anyone know if tooth extraction is usually covered by pet insurance?

My ddog is going in next week to have a tooth extracted. I've only had her for just less than a year (she's a 10 year old rescue)

not in my experience unless caused by an accident.

I think my dogs tooth removal cost about £80

It's costing me £230 but might be up to £400!

What insurer are you with and has the vet checked teeth at check ups?

Ouch, mind you depends on the tooth, my dog was at one point having to have the back tooth (carnissal??) removed which would have required a specialist and then it would have been a few hundred.

Check your insurance though, it may just have been the policies I took out that didn't cover teeth

That's a very expensive tooth removal?!? Why so much?

Because that's how much the vets charging me! I'm in the wrong job!

That is pretty expensive if its a straight forward tooth removal.

Mind you, I practically promise my vet a blank cheque as long as they can sort out my beloved dog!

Calm your insurer and ask. We none of us know what's in your policy.

I was only asking here as it's taken me 3 days to get through to my insurer!

My direct Line policy covers dental work , but I don't think their basic policy does . Anything that involves an anaesthetic is always over £200 at our vets .

I've rung a couple another vets to ask approx price and they quoted the same. Seems a lot I know but she's more than worth it.
