Dog Barking at night

Hello

Just need help with my 9month puppy that has started Barking at night it's not continuous just randomly runs to the front door or by the landing and barks until I get out of bed and grab him. I have blocked the cat flap so he can't look out of it. I am against spraying some citronella using Barking collars. Has anyone else experienced this? I tried to Google this and I couldn't find any solutions other than they are Barking at ghosts.. Lol

So please help

My dog will bark at noises (some I may not hear myself). Where he sleeps could he be hearing things and then trying to alert you? Or is he now barking because he knows it gets you up so he gets attention.

Make sure there's no light coming in. Block out curtains etc.

One of ours used to bark when they could see light outside (either from the moon, neighbours etc).

I don't think it's the light because we have the corridor light on its a small flat I know whenever there is someone at the door he barks so I don't know if he is hearing something which is triggering and I have noticed when he is sleeping he would wake suddenly and run to the door to bark and growl.

My puppy is around the 8.5 month mark and is very vocal with letting me know he has heard something he doesn't like. He doesn't do this at night but he sleeps in a crate which might be the difference.

I am going to see how it goes tonight perhaps locking him in our bedroom might help

My second recommendation would've been to put him in your bedroom. Have you got a crate? I've never used one, but know a lot of people who've had huge success with them.

My dog will occasionally start barking at night - I think it's an alert bark because he's heard some unusual noise. I get up and tell him to be quiet, which seems to work as an 'acknowledgement' that I'm aware of the threat. For all I know he might have been scaring off a burglar.
