Get the dog to take the tablet - I am defeated!

Doggy is not very well and the discomfort has put him off eating. He has tablet to make him feel better but as he won't eat, my usual trick of putting the tablet in a piece of food has failed.

I HAVE to get the medicine into him. Any other idea? He is a small dog - JRT

I found crushing the tablet to powder and mixing them into corned beef balled up worked a treat

Make a little hole in a sausage and put it in there, then when your dog picks it up if you kind of pretend you're going to chase him and take the sausage he should wolf it down too fast to notice. It's hard to explain what I mean and will probably only work if your dog plays that way. Best of luck

I used to bash the pill up into a powder like Lil said. Then mix in something you know will get inhaled.

Some tablets shouldn't be crushed, and some will taste so disgusting that crushing them will end up with it spat back out after crushing them.

Just shoving them in the back of the throat is the most straightforward.
