Feeding my dog? (help!)

Hi!

I am searching out a bit of advice on what to feed my Schnauzer, Lilly.

She is just under a year old and I have tried her on a couple of things but nothing really seems to stick.

I desperately want to feed her a healthy diet (as I do the rest of the family!) so wanted to seek some recommendations of types you've all tried to see if we can gain some headway.

The vet says she's a touch skinny but otherwise medically perfectly fine, just a fusspot!

We live in N.London so can get to most shops/get things delivered etc.

I use Millie's Wolfheart kibble which gets a high score on that website.

Mine I think is quite greedy, so maybe not much help, but naturediet in the morning and Gentle cold pressed food in the evening , both allow for some raw food as a supplement/ treat. This takes the form of a single chicken wing a couple of days a week, an air dried treat a couple of days a week , a stuffed Kong twice a week and marrowbone one day a week. She is very happy and healthy with this. Second looking at allaboutdogfood website.

I have looked into raw a little bit, but I don't feel like I know enough to be confident it would be 100% the right thing though. Have seen a few scary stats too...If you are in the know SparklingRaspberry - please do drop me a line!

Acana 60:40 & Forthglade just... as a mixer (1/3 a pack a day for an 11kg dog). Cheapish, good quality & perfect non-smelly solid poos.

Have been googling about and looking for somewhere that will deliver in London (frankly simpler that way!) so might go down that alley a bit more...

The tails website popped up but I tried them on Lilly before and she seemed less than impressed, seemed just like normal dry kibble to me.

Any other suggestions most welcome!

Ignore the scary stats OP - to help you a little, in our practice (I'm not a vet I'm an assistant!) we have never had a raw fed dog be diagnosed with diabetes. I have never met a raw fed dog who has dental problems or weight problems. We promote raw diet and have seen many dogs with several allergies change within days once they're taken off kibble and placed onto raw (owners choice of course!)

Its entirely your choice what you feed your dog. But you can't get any better than they're natural diet - it sounds scary to begin with and many people worry that it's too much to take in but honestly after a week or two it'll be like you've done it forever. You can pop into pet stores and buy the complete meals from the freezers to begin with

My rescue is on Forthglade complete. He loves it, has solid poos and is in really good condition/weight.

Have read up on Forthglade and sounds pretty good, might give it a go.

So I had a search around online and found this butternutbox.com/ - it looks really healthy so I am going to give Lilly crack at it. They deliver too (bonus!) so no traipsing back to the shops. First box arrives tomorrow so will update it if it is a goer or not.

Eden Holistic is great.
Forthglade wet and Natures Diet are what our dog are before epilepsy diagnosis and we changed to Eden to avoid rosemary.

I had to try five different types of kibble with my whippet before I found something he liked. He's on Royal Canin now and life is so much easier when they're keen on their food.

I know when I was trying foods that the premium brands had a palatability guarantee and I got a full refund from the shop if pup didn't like it. I'm in Australia though not UK so not sure if the same applies there.

We got our first Butternut delivery on Sunday and so far Lilly loves it! They include a few 'introduction' pouches so that she has a chance to get used to it, but so far she is eating better and more than she's ever done since we got her.

So far so good on this one so would be happy to recommend at this point!
