My friend has a lovely black Labrador. No problems at all except for this. Every time a fly enters the house (usually the conservatory) she scoots into another room and dives into her bed. She stays there for a long time and nothing will get her out. She has tried distracting her with toys, treats etc but to no avail. I gave her a tin containing bits of Smakos which give a nice rattle when shaken. She is a greedy dog and loves these but even this didn't work. Then she tried a rawhide bone but she wouldn't touch it but what was worrying was that later in the evening she backed away from it when offered it. She associated it with the fly. Outside flies don't worry her and her owner believes all this is her fault because she shouted at her for snapping at a fly when she was younger. She is six now and the problem is getting worse. Instead of lying in the sunshine she is in her bed. Otherwise she is a happy, lively adorable dog. Any suggestions anyone. We would be grateful.
