I'm butterflying a chicken, can I give the backbone to my dachshund?

If it's raw then yes. I feed my dog whole raw chicken (small chicken at the moment, she's only a pup)

Never give cooked chicken bones to a dog.

I thought all chicken bones were a nono?
Sparkling - can you litrally just buy a whole supermarket chicken and feed it straight from the pack? [shocked] I am new to dog owning so still figuring it all out.

You can just give a whole raw chicken but I would probably not give the thigh bones to a dog. My pup gets chicken neck or chicken wings for her lunch. Always supervise.

NoNames raw chicken is completely fine, but as a previous poster said, always supervise.

Never give any cooked chicken bone though. Once chicken bone is cooked that's when it can splinter. I also don't feed single chicken drum sticks mainly because the bone is so dense.

I often put down a whole chicken and my pup will sit for ages demolishing it! Grin She doesn't eat it in one go though so she tends to go back to it. My local pet store also sells whole chickens and chicken backs for dogs but they're cheaper from the supermarket.
