Dog beds - advice please!

Much as I love our dogs, I'm fed up with stinky dog beds. I wash the covers, but I can't fit the cushions in the washing machine, and so they still stink.

I'm guessing that the best solution would be some sort of waterproof bed. I've found several of these on the web, but they all look quite shiny and not very cosy: I'm happy for the dogs to have something to cuddle into, which I can remove as needed and run through the washing machine, while I give the waterproof inner a quick wipe down.

The KosiPet beds look as if they measure up on this score: waterproof cushion, removable cover. Does anyone know what they're like, and are there any alternatives?

Although I have traditional beds I recently bought a cheap double duvet and cover from Asda so I can wash the cover easily and when the time comes replacing the duvet won't be costly. I simply fold it up into a square and DDog loves it because it is so comfy.
Would something like that be useful?

I've tried an old duvet with cover, but our big dog comes in from the woods muddy and damp, so it doesn't take long for the duvet to become... interesting!

He's a monster, basically.

I do have a waterproof bed I use for when he is outside on the patio from kumfipet. They can be a bit noisy when he gets in them and thus did put him off for a while but he does use them now.

Ah but just realised whilst you can wipe them down I can't remove the covers (this was deliberate because at the time he had a thing about eating zips)

Have a look at Tuffies, we were recommended for our dog that destroyed all her beds ..... she's yet to beat this bed a year down the line

Monster dog isn't massively destructive, he's just muddy. And damp. And.... fragrant.

I use an Ikea wicker basket with vet bed and a fleece if I'm feeling sorry for pup the vet bed is washable at 40degrees as is the old fleece. The wicker basket is a bit creaky when she rolls over but she seems to like it and we have no smell.
This will not work if your dog is in anyway destructive as wicker seems to be lovely to chew for many pups

Tuffie waterproof mattress bed with one of their fleecy covers. The covers can just be bunged in the washing machine in dry really quickly.

They're not the cheapest but they're definitely worth it.

I've ordered a Tuffies, thanks all who recommended.

I'll let you know what the dog makes of it.

Hope it works out well ... its the only bed we've had that the dog is happy to sleep on in the front room too, instead of the sofa (makes the hubby pleased lol)!!

Ours never chewed anything else but her beds, she seems to find a seam with a bit of stitching loose then poof it has to be unstuffed .... :D
