DDog has been out of sorts for a few days. He's been licking his leg but has arthritis and I thought it was that. I've just checked him over and found a large growth at the top of his leg, the size of an old 10p. Does anyone have any idea what it might be? Poor DDog Sad

Thanks for asking Must
It's a benign tumour. He's having it removed Friday. I am very relieved!

Thank goodness. Hope Friday goes smoothly.

mustiwearabra · 17/05/2017 18:00

Delighted for you! As someone whose dog had a tumor removed from almost exactly the same area, I'd ask the vet to stitch, glue AND staple it as it's the most active area on their bodies. Learn from my lessons haha.

BiteyShark · 17/05/2017 18:21

Good luck for Friday Flowers

LaGattaNera · 17/05/2017 19:46

hope it all goes well glad it is benign

OhBlissOhJoy · 17/05/2017 22:37

Thank you all Flowers
I've built him a den under the table, which is his new favourite place so he's happy.
I'll report back on Friday after the op. Vet says it's a fast growing tumour so recommended removal, noted Must about the wound! Booked Friday so I'll be around for the weekend to make a fuss keep an eye on him.

Excellent plan with the den making, they love little nooks to recover in.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 18/05/2017 13:57

At least you have found it, and acted on it OP.
I hope your lovely boy is soon mended. 💐

OhBlissOhJoy · 19/05/2017 20:40

Little man is currently on his bed with the cone of shame looking very sorry for himself and whimpering. Surgery went well, he was fine and he's eaten tonight which is good. Lots of fuss this weekend.

Wolfiefan · 19/05/2017 22:41

Yy lots of fuss indeed. Get well soon little man.

OhBlissOhJoy · 19/05/2017 23:39

Poor boy, he's still whining, I know it's a reaction to the anaesthetic and pain meds. He settles when I cuddle him, he's got a blanket and a pillow but he's so disorientated. I hope he sleeps soon, he'll be better tomorrow.

Wolfiefan · 19/05/2017 23:46

Cuddle now. Better soon. Flowers

mustiwearabra · 20/05/2017 09:02

Glad the op is out the way. If he has an iffy tummy over the next few days, give mash up some boiled butternut squash and give him a heaped teaspoon in with his meals.

MTBMummy · 22/05/2017 12:18

How's he getting on after the weekend?

OhBlissOhJoy · 26/05/2017 23:56

Thanks for asking MTB.
He was very distressed after the anaesthetic so spent the evening cuddling him on his bed. Fine the next morning.
He's healing well. They tested the lump and glad to say that it is definitely benign. They are not sure they have managed to get all the cells out so I need to keep an eye on him because it could come back but is not spreading internally and that's all I could ask for.
