dog insurance

Currently with Coop (Allianz) insurance for our one 4 year old lab, going to get another dog next week similar breed. Am looking at comparison sites for insurance. Anyone had experience of pet-insurance.co.uk, or Animal Friends? Need lifetime cover TIA

The former is a trading name of E&L - avoid like the plague, they are notorious within the industry for being bloody awful. Animal Friends also have a less than stellar reputation.

It may be worth asking your vet who they are happy to do direct claims with as this is often quite telling. Petplan are always the gold standard.

I have friends that work at different vets and they all say petplan hands down as they don't try to be sneaky! And will pay out x

Sainsbury's is a popular one at our practice. I'm also with them - never had a problem with our last dog.

Tesco premier policy has a defacto rating and is very good

When I had to claim from petplan it was very easy and they paid quickly so would recommend them.

Avoid animal friends. Our pup was insured by breeder before we got her. The company later voided the insurance as it doesn't insure for breeders. Who else did they think would be insuring more than 10 2 week old pups? FFS!

Petplan. Even if it's a bit more expensive than other quotes it's pointless having insurance that won't pay out if you need to claim.

I've a direct line life plan and I've never had an issue with them paying out in a timely fashion.
