Dog poo way tmi

So DDogs poo is mostly firm (can have a sensitive tummy). However, when out on a walk he tends to do at least one poo that is just runny. I am assuming it is because he is running about but does anyone else's dog do the same?

My dog usually does 2 or 3 poos a day. The last one and the last piece is usually soft and runny. I just assumed this was because it was the last poo in her and she was fully empty. ( if that makes sense)

Yeah it's hard to know what is normal as they say watch how much you are feeding them by the firmness of their poo but the early morning ones are relatively firm but take him on a walk and they tend to be sloppy Sad

Yep definitely seen this when they get overexcited on walks!

arbrighton · 03/05/2017 20:31

yeah, once she's done the first one or two of they day, if she's on a roll, we get a sloppy one.

Poodle with a poohabit and slightly dodgy digestion....

BiteyShark · 03/05/2017 20:33

Phew glad it's not just my dog having erratic bowels Grin

Adrenaline / excitement poos are common here!!

summerlovinggirl · 03/05/2017 21:13

Our dog always has sloppier poos on a walk.
I'm absolutely positive it's because he forces them out knowing I have to pick it up!! It's like he's saying "ha! Have that you human slave!"

JaneEyre70 · 03/05/2017 21:17

Vet told me it was adrenaline. Mine always does one/two very firm poops then we get slop. As long as the first one is OK, I never worry.

BiteyShark · 03/05/2017 21:25

This is putting my mind at ease that it's just dog excitement/running side effects. summer I know what you mean, I have to take several poo bags with me because the sloppy ones can be hard to get with just one bag Sad

Mine is the same , first one of the day very firm and then they get progressively looser. Someone on here a while ago described the last one of the walk as " scraping the bottom of the bowel" and I quote that regularly !!

When I really panic is when the first one comes out in liquid form ( he's a horrendous scavenger) cos I know the others that follow will be even worse !!

AWholeLottaRosie · 04/05/2017 06:52

Yes, we took our puppy to the vets for similar. She said it's quite normal for them to do sloppy poos when on walks as they don't 'need' to go but do so anyway due to excitement, and the stool hasn't had time to form properly. If we're going anywhere where it could be an issue I take a small bottle of water with a little disinfectant added so I can rinse it away.

mummabubs · 04/05/2017 07:05

Ours is just like this too!! (8 year old rescued greyhound). Typically does 4-5 poops every walk- the first two are usually completely normal in 'texture' and appearance and then quality declines to what can only be described as a korma milkshake. (Sorry for the mental image there!) These last few are very small so it does seem like he's just utterly determined to empty his bowels completely when we're out. We've wondered if it's partly because like a lot of racing greyhounds he was kennelled for up to 23 hours a day so if he didn't get it all out when he was outside it'd be in his kennel? ☹️

BiteyShark · 04/05/2017 07:24

Scraping the bottom of the bowel definitely describes it Grin

Yes!!! My dog always does a runny poo on his walk. Not hard like at home that I can easily pick up with a poo bag

Yokohamajojo · 04/05/2017 11:11

This is very good to know as mine does the same! first one big and firm and then a sloppy one in high grass just to make it even more difficult to pick up Smile
