DOG RASH please help! (Contains dog nudity!)

Hello all, my lovely 1yr old pup has had a rash on and off for the majority of her life... started around 12 weeks with a small rash that didn't really irritate her and it came and went again and again but is now back with a vengeance. She has hardly ever been rash free and this time it is so so sore and none of the medicine given by vets is even touching it.
Does anyone have a clue what it might be? She's had skin scrapes to check for mites, etc. Allergy tests, all negative. The vets have no idea and each time I take her I end up having to put her on anti biotics and/or steroids. It's really sore for her now and I'm fed up on her behalf!! I have tried taking her to different vet practises in the hope someone would recognise it, but no.

A woman I know had a staffy with similar problems. . Put him on bottled water and it went away!! Vets were baffled too!! Maybe try for a week and see if any improvements??

Bottled water I can do! Thank you. I really hope it's that simple, she's so sad!

It's not mange, is it? Have they tested for that?
The powder you wash her dogs beds in?

My staffie Had very similar when she was a pup it turns out she is allergic to plug in air fresheners!

Mange is caused by mites isn't it? Her skin scrapes came back clear so I dont think so.
I started washing her bedding in sensitive baby stuff after the rash first appeared just in case. Maybe I could try some specialist hypo allergenic wash???

There's stuff called "stinky stuff" that apparently works wonders on dogs with unknown skin complaints, although it doesn't stink and they do a "non stinky stuff" I have a Staffy too and people on a Staffy group recommend it. They have a Facebook page with info and pictures.

Do dogs get eczema? Maybe try some moisturiser?

Looks like skin allergies. I put my dog on grain free food and she has yumega itchy dog supplement on her food. You can buy it at pets at home so don't need to get it from vets.

Also coconut oil is good for dogs skin I would either give her a little everyday or rub it into her skin.

Also wash her belly and paws after every walk and see if that helps.

Have you been referred to a specialist or is it just your own vet you've been seeing?

I second coconut oil the only thing with that is it's very tasty and the dog may lick it off

What diet is the dog on? A lot of dogs with allergies get rashes here. Especially grains.

Improve her diet ideally raw. Cut out the rice and grains. Use coconut oil.

She's been on a raw diet until the last month when we have tried a hypoallergenic dry food to see if that made a difference.
I've tried two different vets, but no specialist yet. Maybe it's time for that. Poor pooch

Oh she would definitely lick coconut oil off! She doesn't leave me alone if I cream my legs she's all over them bleuuughhh

My Yorkie suffered terribly from a pollen allergy, which always started up at this time of the year. Does the rash go during the winter? Just a thought, but sorry, no help re treatment-she was on steroids for most of her life, which kept it under control.

Vet here- that's almost certainly allergic skin disease- Staffies are very prone. Allergy tests are fairly useless IME, I would arrange to see a dermatologist- there are lots of medications now which you can try- although they tend to be expensive.

Does it start at this time of the year and last through the summer ? My Labrador is allergic to grass and the pollen. On a medicated shampoo and apoquel tablets. Not cheap at £55 a month but helps enormously.

You can have some sort of immunotherapy. Made specifically for each condition.
Poor dog looks so sore.

Can't help but just want to say poor thing it looks very sore hope you find the cause.

I have a border terrier whose exactly the same. He has to have a bath every month in hibiscrub and on 5mg of piriton every day during spring / summer. As soon as the grass starts to be cut he has to go on the antihistamine, its the only thing that controls it for him. He gets pretty miserable when it first flares up (understandably) poor boy.

Immunotherapy not useful if allergy tests haven't shown anything- as the tests form the basis of what to include in the immunotherapy. I would try apoquel plus some sort of topical steroid or shampoo.

Thanks for all the comments, I'll definitely try some of these things mentioned. In the meantime, don't worry- she is getting plenty of hugs and love and distraction to try to make her forget about it. It's so frustrating not knowing what to do but now I've got some ideas to try xxxxx

Any problems with her paws?
Irritation? Fissures / splits?

Also are there particular times of year worse than others? (I know, she's only a year old, so hard to notice patterns).

While awaiting specialist referral, I might be inclined to put her on Piriton / Chlorphenamine Maleate for a short while, to give her some relief. Can either buy it from the chemist (not to be confused with Piriteze), or go back to the vet to discuss prescription.
