lump on a staffy

we found a scab on our staffy a week last friday when he was having a bath, over the course of tge weekend it developed into a lump. we took him the vets last Wednesday to have a look at it and she wasnt sure, she suggested leaving it 2 weeks before sampling it.
its gone a bit red and i can feel a small mass under his skin, im taking him back on the 1st of feb, but im so worried.
hes such a lovely dog and hes only young, he will be 2 in april, im a panicker by nature and feel so stressed about it

I've had bull terriers - staffies and English - all my life. They are lumpy dogs. Our previous BT developed a large and very scary looking lump on her underside which was benign and she had it for a number of years in the end. They can be a bit warty as well. Try not to worry (easier said than done) but just wanted to reassure you, they do get lumpy, a bit.

You've done the right thing re. the vet - I'd ring and ask if they can test the lump a bit sooner, if it's really preying on your mind. The vet will no doubt have a good reason for the 2 week thing. And let us know how you get on.

Our staffy cross is also 2 (she looks like a 'full' staffy but is half JRT). I'd be just as worried, but the odds are in the dog's favour at such a young age.

My staffy (lost him at Xmas due to kidney failure) had various warty mole things on him and if they were knocked off they would eventually scab - now he was old had him from 12 till he was 14 and these things are not uncommon in oldies, having said that, my vet said he wanted to sample asap - he couldn't do it that day, but dog was in within a couple of days and results were back within a couple of days - all were ok but if you dog is insured, I'd be pushing the vet to sample sooner.

I love staffs and am looking for another. I love the way they "talk" and grunt and most affectionate dog I have ever had. Yours is young so chances are nothing sinister.

Mine is also prone to skin tags that sometimes become inflamed. Had the worst ones cut off incase he nibbled them and made it worse. Prayers are with you, hopefully its nothing x
