Raw feeding amounts?

I don't want to get this wrong but I'm not sure I'm understanding this. According to online/Ocado guide you feed your dog 2-3% of their weight.

So if your dog is 5.6kilos like mine is (23 weeks old) then that's about 130 grams of food split into 2 meals?

So this food - Nutriment would do 3 days food for £1.89 ? That seems astonishingly cheap to me - which is why I think I've got the numbers wrong.

This is a good website for starting. Here is a feeding quantity chart.

As your dog is still young, I would perhaps start with 150g split into two meals. It is a small amount but your dog is only small! It's a small amount as it's pure food not packed full of fillers and additives like dried food! You could join FB groups like Rawfeeding Rebels or Raw Feeding UK for loads of info and lists of suppliers UK wide.

At 23 weeks, you should be buying the puppy version, not the adult, and Nutriment recommendation is 4-6% for puppies up to 10 months of age (longer for large/giant breeds).

Great, 150gms makes sense. She doesn't feel like a small dog Grin She's a very stocky and strong Scottie

There isn't any nutriment puppy Confused that I can see. Maybe they don't do it.

I've just reread that and realised you've both said different amounts - 150gm/double that.

See that's why this is difficult. She throws up when her stomach is empty, I discovered that during the night at 3am fairly early on. She doesn't now when I give her a very small meal at bedtime. So I've been doing 4 smaller meals a day.

Ok, so it's product dependant ? The recommended amounts are all different for each product

Thanks so much both of you for the help Smile

These are the amounts given for puppies on the Dog's Dinner website I linked to earlier:

7-10 weeks 8 - 10% of bodyweight
10-16 weeks 7.5 - 8.5% of bodyweight
16-20 weeks 6.5 - 7.5% of bodyweight
20-24 weeks 5.5 - 6.5% of bodyweight
24-36 weeks 4.5 - 5.5% of bodyweight
36-56 weeks 3.5 - 4.5% of bodyweight
56-68 weeks 3.5%
68 weeks plus is adult maintenence at 2-3%
