He was 4. Swallowed a bone and it ruptured his insides. I'm devastated. A beautiful golden cocker spaniel.

Shocking for you to lose your youngster so suddenly with such unexpected circumstances. These awful freak accidents happen and sorry you were caught up in one.
Treasure those wonderful times you shared and the difference hee made to your life. Flowers to you and your darling boy may he RIP

My last but one spaniel swallowed a wooden lolly stick that almost passed through her system, but then broke; she had to be opened up stem to stern & survived that, but later died at 4 of liver disease.
It is so difficult, particularly with spaniels as they have a tendency to scarf anything, even with vigilance!
RIP, lovely dog.

I'm so sorry for your loss. We said goodbye to our boy yesterday (long term foster, so not dead just moved on to the next step) and my grief is overwhelming.

Would you like to tell us about your boy?

MsAdorabelleDearheartVonLipwig · 03/01/2017 22:35

I'm so sorry, what a dreadful shock. Poor boy and poor you. Talk about him all you want, we're all here and we've all been through it one way or another. Flowers

What a gorgeous boy and a horrible loss for you.

This morning, I saw a mess of chicken bones and noodles left by some careless sod near one of our usual walks. I thought of your poor dog, went back for a bag and binned the lot.

I try not to think about it but if anyone mentiones him I just burst out crying. DH is trying really hard not to say "the D word" in the house.

That's really crap Shelves - poor baby, such a waste. My first DDog had to be put to sleep aged 5 about 18 months ago, I had a lot of support on here but also from the Blue Cross pet bereavement service - you can contact them by e-mail or phone and I think they are particularly good at talking about premature death of a dog - link below, but please do come back if you need us:

I'm so sorry to hear this. Our dog was killed in an accident last October. The grief is overwhelming and so raw in the early days. I kept reliving it all and I posted on here for advice - people were so kind.
It will ease though, slowly.
Our dog left such a chasm in our family that we are adopting a rescue mutt in two weeks' time. We will never forget our first boy but we are all excited about having a new family member.
Be kind to yourself and allow yourself to sob and mourn him - it does help.

What a gorgeous looking dog. I'm sure he lived a happy and full life with a very waggy tail.

I'm so sorry, OP. He looks gorgeous and beautifully tempered Flowers. Thinking of you x
