Not sure what info you need? The basic principle I think is that you keep pup in the crate when you aren't watching? Ours only go in overnight as they are in the kitchen the rest of the time. X

Thanks for book recommendations. At the moment she eats and settles for 1-30 mins for a sleep but only if carried in sleepy. We shut the door while she eats. I think she moves, bangs the side and comes out. Wondering if food should come out and make it bed only?

This is an excellent guide to crate training.

I did loads of reading up on crate training and found theFB article linked above to be the simplest guide.

As it happens, we haven't needed it. We brought our puppy home on Saturday and put his blanket with mum's smell (did your breeder give you one?) into the crate.

After exploring the downstairs of the house he went in there on his own and fell asleep.

He's now slept two nights in there and goes in of a day without promoting when he's tired.

We've never closed the door and his water bowl is just outside.

Both nights I've sat outside the kitchen door after he's gone to bed wondering if he'll stay in the crate or get out and wander round, but he's stayed in there happily. And when I've got up at 1.30am and 4am he's been curled up in there and won't even come out for a wee.

I'm going to try leaving him tonight without doing the 1.30 and 4am checks - I'll probably come down to find a poonami in my kitchen Grin
