What breed is this dog? (pic)

Can anyone tell me what kind of dog this is? It's identical to a dog I had for 16 years but we had no idea what he was made up of. It's Ollie Locke's dog from Made in Chelsea and I've never seen one that looked so much like my lovely old dog. My dog was just called a collie cross but he was absolutely tiny like this dog is. He had less hair than spitz but similar face. I loved my wee dog so much and it's strange seeing such a similar dog on tv when we never saw anything similar in his lifetime.,

He looks like a papillon

SVJAA · 12/12/2016 10:46

I just googled (no idea who Ollie Locke is) and apparently it's a pomchi (Pomeranian x chihuahua)

Veterinari · 12/12/2016 10:47

Yes could definitely be a chi x

Veterinari · 12/12/2016 10:48

This is a papillon

It's not a papillon- looks more like a Pomeranian

sparechange · 12/12/2016 12:09

It's a pomeranian or Papillion, but probably a cross of them.

They are difficult dogs to breed because they only have a couple of pups at a time, because the mum's are so small, so unscrupulous breeders will cross them with other dogs who are able to have bigger litters while keeping the pom or pap features such as the muzzle and ears

Deffo not a pomeranian, ears are too big, nose too long and not fluffy enough, but may well be a cross. For reference here's our pomeranian, cute in looks but not in nature.

Definitely not a Papillon, some sort of not very well bred Pomeranian/other Spitz cross I would think. Certainly not a cross between a breed typical Pom and Chi, far too big.

So, a cross-breed, not able to be easily duplicated, bar finding something similar in a rescue kennel (and checking its temperament).

Blackfellpony · 12/12/2016 19:30

My guess would be Pomeranian or German spitz cross.

Bloopbleep · 13/12/2016 10:12

Thanks everyone. My dog was like a spitz but with much less hair and smaller, a bit like the dog in original photo. I'd love another like him (I know realistically he could never be replaced or get a similar personality tho)

I googled for ages and couldn't find what breed the dog is - wonder why I couldn't find it when others did so quickly (duh!)

I think it's a bitsa.

Bitsa this, bitsa that.........

Bloopbleep · 13/12/2016 10:19

Viques that's exactly what mine was. A Heinz pup

I just saw this old message when I was looking up Ollie lockes dog because she looks like our Romanian rescue dog Luna. I guess she is some kind of spitz mix but with what I’m not sure

Papillon x chihuahua, at a guess

Lovely little thing.

pigsDOfly · 09/01/2022 12:37

I would say Pomeranian/chihuahua cross.

I've come across quite a number of them over the years and they've all looked like that.
