Paddy or Finn or Ted.

Lovely lovely breed. Such clowns & so loyal! You will have so much fun with him.
My parents have an Irish girl called Niamh.

Would love a photo of him!

Do you have to go with the Irish theme? Every Irish terrier/setter I've ever met has an Irish name (or comedy Irish name).

Same with the Scottish theme with West Highland Terriers. They are all Hamish, Hector and Bonnie.

Why don't you call him Nigel? Or Rudolph?

ILOVEKISSINGSANTACLAUS · 10/12/2016 19:55

Gorgeous boy! He looks like a Clancey to me

Kidnapped · 10/12/2016 20:04

That dog is clearly a Horace.

Budgiebonbon · 10/12/2016 20:04

What a beautiful Pup! You don't see many- I think they are an endangered native breed as well.

MintyChops · 10/12/2016 20:04

Phillipa did you love them? You must have to have had so many. We had to have our beloved Lakeland put down very recently and I am still so sad but I know now that I cannot be trusted to just go to "look" at a puppy. 🙂

We are in Ireland so although I get the temptation to choose one of those lovely Irish names, I don't think we would do that.

Terry, after Terry Wogan

Phillipa12 · 10/12/2016 20:13

Minty my parents were in the forces and we got our first whilst in Ireland and then went on to have two more, after the Irishes my parents downsized terriers to a welsh and a wire haired fox. Sadly no more will follow as my dad is 70 now and cant give the time and exercise to a dog due to limited mobility, but i am an absolute fan of the Irish, have also been known to abandon a car to go and say hello to one 😃

MinisWin · 10/12/2016 20:16

I know of a Labrador called Colin. I think Colin is the best dog name I've ever heard. My bloody DH insisted on keeping the Disney character name out dog had when we acquired him - poor dog would be so much happier with something more distinguished I reckon! Hector? Seamus? Dillon?

Finbogy · 10/12/2016 20:37

We just called our IT Berty
Pog?

MintyChops · 10/12/2016 21:17

Finbogy, Betty is gorgeous! Just use a France acute accent as a fada, works a treat 🙂 Colin is a great name but ai knew a horrible one at work once so cannot use it....

Jeeves is because we love the Wodehouse books and reckon he will be just as smart as his namesake, an answer for every situation. Thank you all so much, I love hearing about your ITs too...

Lovely! Our beautiful Irish Terrier was put to sleep in June. We miss her so much. Today when putting up decs I found some of her fur on the sofa....must have come out of the Christmas box. They are a wonderful breed. We are in UK now but she was from Limerick. Enjoy! Xx

Doobydoo · 10/12/2016 21:42

They are very smart and very stubborn. Smile

Finbogy · 10/12/2016 22:28

I know a JRT called Wooster!

MintyChops · 10/12/2016 22:38

Ah DoobyDo I'm so sorry, it's so hard. Our beautiful Lakeland was pts only 6 weeks ago and I feel such a mixture of sadness, excitement about a new puppy and guilt for getting another dog so fast but I feel that it is the right thing. It's when you are caught off guard by something like the fur that it hits you hardest. Flowers for you and I am sorry for your loss.
